Acden Donates $250,000 To Northern Lights Health Foundation

One of Canada’s largest aboriginal corporations just made a significant pledge to the Northern Lights Health Foundation’s Gratitude Campaign.

Back in March, Acden along with the Health Foundation announced a $250,000 donation to help fund their Minimally Invasive Surgical Suite Project.

On Monday, the Health Foundation held an official cheque presentation – to commemorate the funding.

Executive Director for the Health Foundation Cindy Amerongen says the foundation is thankful for the generous support.

“The MIS Suite upgrade impacts so many people. Having this modern and innovative technology will help the Health Centre recruit new surgeons and result in people getting back to their families and back to work much faster".

The MIS project is a state of the art upgrade to four surgical suites at the Health Centre – which will create an ideal operating environment for surgeons and patients.

President and CEO of Acden Garry Flett says it means a lot to the company to contribute in this capacity.

“Advancing health care is a vital element to Fort McMurray's future, and something everyone in our organization and community is touched by."

MIS technology will allow surgeons to conduct more precise operations, resulting in greater infection control, less time under anaesthesia for patients and quicker recovery times.

The project is one of six that encompasses the Gratitude Campaign.
