AHS Kicks Off Its North Zone Influenza Immunization Program

As we head into the fall and winter months, more and more people will be infected with the influenza virus, which is why AHS is urging everyone to get vaccinated.

On Monday, the North Zone will be kicking off its Influenza Immunization program.

The vaccine will be made available free of charge to all Abertans 6 months and older, with clinics set up at a number of different locations over the coming weeks.

AHS’ North Zone’s Medical Officer of Health Dr. Mayank Singal says he’s already seeing cases of influenza in the province and addsprevention is your only protection.

Last year, more than 1600 Albertan’s were hospitalized with influenza over a 6-month period;62 died as a result of the virus.

You can find more information including a list of local clinic schedules on Alberta Health Services website or by calling Health Link at 8-1-1.
