AHS releasing a modern way to view your health records

The Patient Health Portal is a pilot project from Alberta Health Services and Canada Health Infoway.

The project willlet you sign up and give you access to yourlab results, book appointments or even renew prescriptions. Your account will also have a secure password so only you can get into it.

Canada Health Infoway Vice President, Shelagh Maloney, tells Fort McMurray News, access to this information could offer comfort to anxious patients.

“When they can actually go in and see the lab results, it’ll give you a peace of mind, so you know it didn’t just fall behind a desk and someone saw it and you saw it and know what the results are.”

Maloney adds that it changes the conversation a patient and doctor can have.

“It’s an opportunity to have a discussion about what your results really mean and you’ll be educated.”

The program went through extensive tests last year and will open up to the public when its safe and secure to use.
