Alberta Liberal Party Leader Plans RMWB Visit To Extend Support To Local Candidate

Fort McMurray will be getting one more visit from one of the province’s political party leaders.

Alberta Liberal leader David Khan will be in the RMWB Wednesday to discuss his stance on the job the NDP has done – as well as the negative impact he feels the UCP would have on Albertans if elected.

Khan will also be throwing his support to local Liberal candidate Robin LeFevre – who is running for the Liberal party in the riding of Fort McMurray-Conklin.

LeFevre tells Fort McMurray News if elected – his focus would be creating conditions for a strong economy, social progressiveness, and safeguarding the environment.

“We feel we are the party of the centre, unlike any of the other parties. We are more down the centre, for equality, freedom but we are also supportive of a dynamic government role in the economy and so forth.”

With Jason Kenney,Stephen Mandeland Premier Rachel Notley all in town last week – Khan is one of two party leaders in the upcoming by-election who’s yet to visit the RMWB.

He will also be in Fort McMurray to meet with Indigenous leaders.

LeFevre feels their centrist approach to politics is what separates them from the other parties.

“I can’t say I have any fix-all for the problems we have and nor does the Liberal party, but we certainly think we can take a balanced approach moving forward and listen to constituents here and where there needs to be an improvement, work for that improvement.”

LeFevre notes the recent presence of other party leaders in the RMWB is a sign that there may be concerns a change may be coming.

The By-Election is on July 12.
