Albertans working longer than other Canadians

Albertans are working longer hours than other Canadians.

That's according to the latest figures from Statistics Canada which released the numbers for February 2013 to February of this year.

The stats show the average Albertan works 32.1 hours a week with the national average at 29.9 hours.

Excluding overtime hours though, Newfoundlanders work slightly longer hours.

Albertans work 30 hours per week and the East-coasters work 30.2 hours per week.

Chief Economist ATB Financial Todd Hirsch says the long hours come with a price.

Hirsch says the impact on an employees health from burn out and stress often affect the employers.
