Another attempted child abduction reported to police

Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating another attempted abduction on a local student.

Police say they received a report from a high school aged student who was approached by a stranger in the Timberlea area, yesterday but investigators remain mum on the details.

Constable Natasha Lytwenko declined to make a link between the most recent incident and a rash of similar encounters reported by children across the city in recent weeks but says the files are all being handled by the same investigative unit.

Police received similar reports of attempted abductions last month.

On two separate occasions, children were offered rides home by an unknown man driving a black pick up truck.

The man is described as being in his 40s or 50s, possibly having grey hair and a moustache. Anyone with information is asked to call the local detachment at 788-4000.
