Arts Council Wood Buffalo Looking To Expand Local Artists And Performers

Arts Council Wood Buffalo wants to maximize your market.

In partnership with the Urban Market and the Wood Buffalo Artisans, the 'Maximizing The Market' event is an initiative of the Urban Market Community Committee.

Whether you’re an artist, crafter, musician or street performer – there’s an opportunity for you to learn about the market environment.

Programs and Partnership Manager with Arts Council Wood Buffalo Diana Moser tells Fort McMurray News that markets are a fantastic way to expand your business.

"It's a chance for us to talk about how do you make the best of the situation in regard to the venue and the event. What are the requirements, best practices and considerations that need to be made?"

The benefits of markets include selling your art, growing your clientele and networking with other fellow artists.

Diana Moser says the session will also cover how to thrive in the market environment.

"The Urban Market will be speaking from a venue perspective, the artisans will be talking from a vendor perspective, and the Arts Council will speak from a performers' perspective."

Moser adds that the goal is to escalate business opportunities for local vendors.

"Build a session that more generally can build the capacity for artists so that they can feel more confident – not only going into the markets we have here but other similar types of things. If they go into trade shows, if they go outside our region, if they want to expand to different markets and different places."

'Maximizing The Market' takes place at the Red Poll Centre on Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
