Our nation moved from fourth to first on magazine's annual list due to holding up better than most during the economic downturn.
Forbes says Canada's $ 1.6 trillion economy is ninth biggest in the world, and grew 3.1 per cent last year, with the Bank of Canada forecasting a 2.4 per cent expansion in 2011.
Meanwhile , the United States, home to the world's largest economy at nearly $15 trillion, ranked 10th.
