A local parent volunteer was given the Salute to Excellence, for her efforts in bringing a program to better identify students with allergies or handicaps.
The Catholic School Board thanked Sarita Reid Monday night for the "No Child Without" program.
The program is funded by the Canadian MedicAlert Foundation and offers students ages 4 to 14 with customized medical bracelets.
Father Mercredi high school also offers the program, where students older than 14 can afford medical bracelets at a discounted rate.
Reid said her son was the inspiration for bringing the program to Fort McMurray, as he has severe allergies himself.
Nearly 300 students have used the program.
