New measures being introduced to Canada's Employment Insurance program will require all beneficiaries to look for a job each day they receive federal funding.
Announced today, the changes will also redefine what constitutes as 'suitable work' and a 'reasonable job search'.
Expected to come into effect next year, the EI changes will also introduce coordination between the Temporary Foreign Worker Program and the EI program to better connect unemployed Canadians with available jobs, in their local area.
With the government saying there is significant evidence to suggest that some employers are hiring temporary foreign workers while Canadians and permanent residents are making claims in the same occupation and province.
