Charges Laid in Humboldt Broncos Bus Crash

The driver of the semi-trailer that allegedly caused the Humboldt Broncos crash is being charged.

Investigators from the Major Crime Unit arrested 29-year-old Jaskirat Sidhu in his Calgary home on Friday.

On April 6, the Broncos’ team bus collided with his semi-truck about 30 kilometres south of Tisdale, Saskatchewan – as they were on route to Nipawin for a playoff game. Sixteen people on the bus died as a result of the crash.

Sidhu’s since been charged with 16 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and 13 counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.

He’s currently in police custody and will make his first court appearance in Saskatchewan Provincial Court next week.
