Circus Arrives In Fort McMurray With Big Top Tent

One of the oldest forms of entertainment is in Fort McMurray this weekend.

The Royal Canadian Family Circus Spectac runs from Friday to Sunday under the big top in the Casman Centre parking lot.

“Our production this year features a lot of thrill and that’s why we’re calling it Spectac. You may have purchased a seat but you will only need the edge,” Ring Master Joseph Dominic Bauer tells Fort McMurray News.

Bauer, an 8th generation circus performer, says for the first time ever in Fort McMurray the show will be held under the big top, which holds roughly 2700 people, instead of inside the Casman Centre.

He adds there will be everything from motorcycle stunts, to the globe of death, aerial acrobats, and an equestrian show.

“We’ve got motorcycles that are at the apex of the big top spinning around with girls hanging from the other end. Then we got the globe of death where it’s one, two and three motorcycles in a 17-foot steel ball, it’s very scary. Then we’ve got our beautiful equestrian show, our liberty horses, our very rare horses that probably aren’t seen that much. Then we have a husband and wife that perform 30 feet above the big top floor on the highwire.”

The show kicks off on Friday at 4:00 p.m. with a second show at 7:30 p.m., along with three shows on Saturday and two on Sunday.
