This time next week if you're busted talking or texting behind the wheel, it will cost you.
Alberta's distracted driving laws come into effect September 1st. Prohibiting the use of hand-held cell phones, reading or grooming while on the road. Drivers who break the law, will be fined $172. That could go up if they commit additional traffic violations like running a red light.
As far as pets go, police may issue a ticket if the driver becomes too involved with the animal.
