By-election date set: June 30

Four of five vacant ridings in Canada will see new MPs June 30 including Fort McMurray-Athabasca.

The prime minister made the announcement of the date for by-elections this morning.

Two of the ridings are in Toronto while the other two are in Alberta.

A fifth riding, left vacant after the death of former finance minister Jim Flaherty, will not see a by-election until the fall.

Currently there are four contenders for the seat in Fort McMurray-Athabasca: Kyle Harrietha for the Liberals, David Yurdiga for the Conservatives, the NDP's Lori McDaniel, and Libertarian Tim Moen.
