Enbridge Facing Delay in Line 3 Pipeline Project

Enbridge’s Line 3 Replacement Project is facing a lengthy delay.

The Calgary-based company announced last week that they expect an in-service date by the second half of 2020. This roughly puts another year on construction after Enbridge had hoped to finish in 2019.

This comes after the State of Minnesota indicated that they would have the certifications on all remaining environmental permits by November. Enbridge is expecting the remaining federal permits between 30 to 60 days afterward.

“We now have a firm schedule from the State on the timing of the remaining permits for our Line 3 Replacement project,” said Al Monaco, President and CEO in a release.

“We support a robust and transparent permitting process that includes opportunity for public input. We’ll continue to work closely with State officials during this process.”

The multi-billion dollar project would help ship crude along 1,660 kilometre route from Alberta to Superior, Wisconsin.
