Eskimos help raise money and food for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank

The Edmonton Eskimos are teaming up with the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.

Yesterday, Eskimos players were at the Save on Foods in Stoney Creek, helping raise food and money for the Kick Hunger Northern Kickoff campaign.

Long snapper Ryan King says the donations were great and the players were happy to do whatever was asked of them.

"When it comes to things with the Food Bank, it's always close to the team. It's one of those things where people in our world can't not be eating so it's really important that we support people who are under privileged and help provide food for them," says King.

King says the goal is to raise $25,000 and 25,000 pounds of food for the Food Bank by the Northern Kickoff.

"You guys have a big goal up here in Fort McMurray but I know with the amount of support that we've been presented with in creating that goal to happen, I think the city is going to be able to do it and it's all going to go to a great cause," says King.

He says the Eskimos are excited to be a part of the Fort McMurray community and the team can't wait to hit the field on June 13th against Saskatchewan.
