Federal government chastised on emissions reduction

A Federal environment watchdog issuing a damning report on the country's green house gas reduction strategy.

Environment Commissioner Scott Vaughan tabling a study which finds the government is falling short, and will likely to fail in meeting future benchmarks.

Vaughan says the sector-by-sector will be be inadequate in eliminating an additional 178 million tonnes in emissions required to meet 2020 targets.

The report criticized a lack of planning, saying the feds have failed to assess the financial ramifications of their mismanaged emissions plan.

Did anyone really not see this coming , this government is all about. Industry! Industry! Industry! Cut! Cut! Cut! and an omnibus bill here or there.

But but but free market! If companies pollute a lot they'll cause everyone to die and nobody will buy their product and they'll go bankrupt. So invisible hand will take care of everything, no need for silly emission rules
