First Municipal Census Results Show Eight People Live In RMWB’s Most Northern Community

Eight people live in the RMWB’s most northern community.

Fort Fitzgerald is the first area to complete the 2018 municipal census.

In three years, the hamlet lost one person, as the 2015 census showed nine people lived there.

Mayor Don Scott was the first to take the census back in April with this year’s count expected to wrap up at the end of June.

According to the Municipalities website, as of May 15, 44,029 people have been counted. This means the RMWB will get at least $8,805,800 from the Province of Alberta and the federal government for a variety of projects including road construction, emergency services, and parks.

This is the first count the region has conducted since 2015 and will reflect the impact that the Horse River wildfire has had on the population.
