Former Fort McMurray gynecologist removed from physicians registry
A former Fort McMurray gynecologist, convicted of sexual assault, will never practice medicine in Alberta again.
The College of Physicians and Surgeons has removed Dr. Carl Nqumayo from the Register, after the Supreme Court of Canada dismissed his final avenue of appeal, on September 22nd.
In 2009, Nqumayo was found guilty of sexually assaulting four of his former patients during medical examinations.
Court documents show the assaults took place between June 2003 and September 2005.
Originally from Nigeria, Nqumayo worked at the Thickwood Heights Family Medical Clinic.
He was sentenced to three years in prison.
The CPSA says details of the disciplinary action against Nqumayo will be published in the College newsletter, posted on it's website and shared with regulatory Colleges across Canada and around the world.
