Fort McMurray drug bust cracks down on organized crime

Law enforcement looking to stifle organized crime in Fort McMurray.

20-thousand dollars worth of cocaine, 191 grams, was seized after a search of an apartment at unit 2-302 Parsons Creek Drive, and suspect vehicle Monday.

After an investigation by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams in partnership with local RCMP.

Corporal Bruce Holliday with the Combined Special Enforcement says the investigation was in relation to a gang operating within the city.

"The individuals targeted have a connection, however, due to possible future investigations a this time, we won't be naming that group because, as this investigation may continue in the Fort McMurray area, " said Holliday.

24-year old Derek Schofield and 25-year old Vanessa Jacobs are both facing numerous counts, including charges for trafficking and possession.
