A 55-year old Fort McMurray man is laughing all the way to the bank.

Chris Fowler is about to cash a cheque for $21.8 million, after winning last Friday's Lotto Max draw.

"I just went the to Esso Max store in Thickwood, I usually buy 11 packs, so a bought the 11 pack of tickets, and went for a walk over to Uncle Bill's Store in Thickwood and checked them, and it was hard to believe, but when the clerk told me what is was I started to believe it, " Fowler tells Fort McMurray News.

A heavy equipment operator with Syncrude for 25 years, Fowler has already handed in his resignation, saying that "someone else can have it," and is looking forward to a lengthy retirement.

Fowler plans to spend the money on his family and travel, including a trip home to Newfoundland, but says his remaining shock has overwhelmed his planning.

Fowler's on his way to the car dealership with his kids, to decide between a shiny corvette or a brand new truck.
