Four wildfires ablaze in Wood Buffalo

With smouldering temperatures in the forecast, the risk of further forest fires in Wood Buffalo is expected to spike.

Environment and Sustainable Resource Development officials say although the current fire hazard is low, the risk is expected to rise in the coming days

Four forest fires are ablaze in the region, caused by lightning strikes over the past week.

The Bolton Fire is currently burning in Wood Buffalo National Park, with more than 3,000 hectares of flames stretching in to the Fort McMurray district.

While  the Cambrian and Wylie complexes, combined are covering more than 23,000 hectares, roughly 65 kilometres north of Fort Chipewyan.
