Giants Lick Wounds Following Road Trip But Remain Optimistic

The Fort McMurray Giants are back on home field following their longest road trip of the season.

That trip was capped off by a 15-2 loss to the Medicine Hat Mavericks on Sunday.

With losses in 8 of their last 10 games – the Giants have now fallen to 5-and-9 on the year.

Head Coach Patrick Riley tells Fort McMurray News it’s a good feeling to be back home.

“With how the league is shaping up, we’re still obviously in the early stages of the season so we’re still right in the middle of things and you know, you’ve gotta take the trip for what it was and learn from it but we’re definitely excited to be back.”

After a 3-1 start to the season, things have not gone well for the Giants following a road trip that saw them win only twice in nine games.

They’ll be looking to not only turn things around but get some sweet vengeance as they kick off a 4-game series on Tuesday against the Mavericks.

“Moving forward, yeah we competed really well over the course of a long trip,” Riley said. “A lot of travel and back-to-backs but we have a good team here and we hope to continue to compete hard and hopefully come out with a few more wins.”

The series gets underway on Tuesday with first pitch for game one after 7:30 p.m.
