Goods On Display: Former Father Merc Football Star On NCAA Radar

A former Father Mercredi football star is ready to put his nose to the grindstone as US college offers begin to pour in.

Lamar Goods played Defensive Tackle for the Trappers – and has received offers from Georgia, Florida, Syracuse, Tennessee and Rutgers.

While the 16-year-old says he’s ecstatic to receive so many offers – he’s holding out for an offer from the University of Clemson Tigers.

Goods tells Fort McMurray News whoever signs him will be getting a player who’s ready to hammer away at the opposition.

“Once I get there, more work and more effort to just be able to get better each day and each month. I’m someone who’s ready to put the work in at my position and just grind.”

Goods is currently ranked fourth on Canadian Football Chat’s top 100 football prospects for the class of 2020 and is listed at a mammoth 6’3″ and pushing 300 pounds.

He says all five schools came calling on the exact same day.

“It’s not normal, that’s to say it’s very rare. Especially five in one day, I’m feeling pretty lucky and I was pretty surprised and shocked myself.”

With 2020 still in the distant future – Goods says he’s going to take the time to consider options while also working on his own personal improvement.

Although he’s most likely heading down south of the border to try his hand at Division One – things are looking up for Lamar Goods.
