The municipality's planning and community services department can now apply for capital funding towards a plan to end homelessness.
At Tuesday night's council meeting, a ten year plan was approved; aimed at getting the homeless into permanent homes and offer intervention programs.
General Manager Carol Theberge says the plan will deal with chronic problems.
There was some concerns amongst councillors about people taking advantage of the program, but Theberge says there are protocols in place to make it impossible.
