MLA Goodridge Given Critic Role With UCP

The new MLA for Fort McMurray-Conklin has a new job within the United Conservative Party.

Laila Goodridge will serve as the Seniors, Housing, and Multiculturalism Critic.

“I look forward to working with stakeholders from across the province to effectively represent Albertans served by these departments,” she said, in a release.

She joins MLA for Fort McMurray-Wood Buffalo Tany Yao on the UCP’s shadow cabinet as he continues to be the Health & Emergency Response critic.

Along with Goodridge, newly elected MLA Innisfail-Sylvan Lake Devin Dreeshen will be their Trade Critic.

“I am thrilled to announce these critic portfolio assignments and to fully integrate our new MLAs into our caucus team," said UCP Leader Jason Kenney. “Laila and Devin each bring unique strengths, talents, and abilities to our United Conservative team and I look forward to seeing them hold this NDP government to account.”

Goodridge has completed her MLA orientation program since winning the byelection on July 12.
