The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is spending thousands to wipe out graffiti.
With tagging on the rise due to population growth, the city has taken to using public art to combat vandalism.
Recently a mural was painted on a wall at Composite High School, while a second one will be done at Bob Lamb Band Stand, in partnership with the Mayor's Advisory Council On Youth.
Beautification Coordinator Jillian MacDonald says the RMWB even helps home and business owners cover the costs of cleanup, by supplying graffiti removal kits.
She also says the municipality spent over $60,000 on graffiti removal last year, not including staff wages.
