I am the Mother of Cory Pepin who was stabbed and killed by Stacey Ketch in fort McMurray December 29th,2012.I was looking for any new posts in the news pertaining to the latest update of the case concerning my Son...As i cannot find any news articles I would like to let the public know that i was to come to fort mac April 8th,2013 in which i had a victims impact statement filled out which i thought may help the ppl of the court somehow try to understand the pain and loss we as a family have endured since the death of our son,his sister who is aged 15 to the point of breakdown and needing professional guidance on how to cope with her loss of her brother...Recieved a call in Cambridge,Ontario where we reside to let us know there will be no trial...Stacey Ketch who at one time was being charged with murder, then reduced to manslaughter, now as of March 2013 walked out of court No Trial...pleaing guilty on weapons charges in which he recieved probation...We as a family are very hurt by outcome here i'm outraged at the fact that my son was killed, Whether or not the intentions were there my son lost his life senselessly and the person responsible did not have any consequences to pay for his actions...He simply got away with murder!!

So sorry to hear about your loss of your son,
I can't understand how a murder charge could be dropped so easily....

Thank you jango,Actually we are trying to figure that out ourselves....something just isn't right.Pretrial for Stacy Ketch was suppose to be starting April 8th-12th,but as everything changed and there is no trial i'm just waiting to see if the fort mac news posts something thats even if they are aware ketch pled already and is free...actually just got in touch with Curtis McConnell in alberta his wife killed his two kids and victims services rcmp and courts much like my sons case let her out...she is in a psych hospital and immigration is talking deporting her!! The canadian justice system has to do something they are letting these ppl get away with murder, the victims and victims familys left with nothing...Not even Justice anymore.Hoping to start a petition or go to the Media with our stories,I'm sure we are only 2 familys of how many that have or are seeking the same as we are...."JUSTICE"

you know this really scares me to think such heinous crimes can get off the hook so easily, this is a such a sad case, victims can't even get some small minute feeling of comfort that perpetrators are behind bars, yet they are given a free ticket to continue on with life as if nothing happens, I am sure the National or maybe the" passionate eye" would carry such a story, news agencies are always hungry for stories to shed light on northern towns,
before moving here I would only see small stores about coke trafficking and the odd murder in fort Mc, After living here for a while in just 2 years I have heard about more murders that have not made the news, up here.
