A trio of oil sands companies welcoming the ballot box.

Municipal voting stations will be featured at the Canadian Natural Resources Horizon site, Nexen's Long Lake project and at Syncrude's Aurora and Mildred Lake camps, June 25th.

The municipality is introducing the measure in attempt to increase engagement in local politics and improve the region's historically low voter turn-out.

14 candidates have put their names forward in the by-election...which is running in tandem with the Public School Board Trustee contest.
