The Canadian government has appointed an independent advisory panel to review the design and management of environmental research and monitioring in the Athabasca River.
The panel of six leading scientists will advise Environment Minister Jim Prentice on the current state of environmental research and monitoring in the oil sands region, and make recommendations to ensure that state-of-the-art monitoring and best practices are implemented.
They will report back to the Minister within 60 days, the study will be available to the public online.
