Pair Of Edmonton Men Arrested On Outstanding Warrants In Separate Incidents

Wood Buffalo RCMP have arrested a pair of wanted Edmonton men in two separate incidents.

On April 27 around 9 p.m., the Mounties pulled over a vehicle in the Timberlea area, after the driver allegedly committed infractions to the Traffic Safety Act, attempted to evade police, and lied about his identity.

Officers discovered the suspect was wanted by Edmonton Police on nine outstanding charges, 7 of which were firearms related.

Shaun Andrew Delbert Wimpney was charged and remanded into custody. He’s scheduled to appear in a Fort McMurray courtroom next week.

RCMP also arrested a 30-year-old man Thursday afternoon on Highway 63 south of Fort McMurray. Officers saw a vehicle parked in a rest area that had a severely damaged windshield.

The vehicle was deemed unsafe to drive and the driver, who was sleeping at the time, was arrested on an outstanding unendorsed warrant from Whitecourt RCMP.

Mason Anderson is being held in police custody for a hearing.

RCMP says this arrest meets the goal of the crime reduction strategies they are implementing in the region.
