Minister of Justice and Solicitor General Jonathan Denis finding himself the target of a province-wide petition.

Launched on www.GoPetition.com, it urges the minister to bring about positive change in the Peace Officer program.

Stating Peace Officers are often called upon to uphold and enforce the same laws as the police, incurring the same amount of risks, only carrying equipment  like mace and a baton to defend themselves.

The petition comes following the death of Peace Officer Rod Lazenby after he attended to an animal-related call in Priddis.

RCMP have since charged 46-year-old Trevor Kloschinski with first degree murder.
