Police Apprehend New Brunswick Man Allegedly Responsible For Downtown Robbery

Wood Buffalo RCMP have arrested a 27-year-old New Brunswick man for allegedly robbing a downtown Fort McMurray business.

Police say last Wednesday evening around 8 p.m., a man pulled a knife and got away with an undisclosed amount of cash at a store on Franklin Avenue near Father Mercredi street.

Over the weekend, Jean-Andre Noel of New Brunswick was arrested and now faces a number of charges.

The charges include armed robbery, disguise with Intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and three charges for failure to comply with a recognizance, under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Noel remains in custody awaiting a hearing.

RCMP say no one was injured during the incident.
