Police investigating attempted child abduction

Fort McMurray RCMP are investigating a possible attempted child abduction near Alberta Drive in a Fort McMurray.
Investigators are working diligently to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident and are appealing to the public for any information that might relate to this incident.

During the evening, at approximately 7:00 pm, on July 23, 2009 Fort McMurray RCMP responded to a report that a older man, in a vehicle, had approached 2 young children. It has been alleged that he had offering them toys and asked them to go with him in his vehicle. The young children did not accept the offer and immediately ran away from the vehicle, returning to their residence where they told a parent about the incident. The male drove away heading west bound. There were no other people in the vehicle. Immediate patrols of the area determined no suspicious activity.

The suspect is described below:
- Caucasian male
- Approximately 60 or 70 years old
- Bald
- Wrinkles on forehead
- Clean shaven

The vehicle is described as a black mini van or crossover SUV with tinted windows.
