Province’s Economy and Job Numbers Increasing

Alberta’s economy is moving farther away from the recession that plagued the province for years.

The provincial government says our GDP has increased by 4.9 per cent since the start of 2017 and is expecting additional growth of 2.7 per cent for the rest of the year.

More Albertans are also working now than ever before. The NDP’s note roughly 2.3 million Albertans currently have jobs.

“We know that we still have work to do, but we will not let up until all Albertans feel the economic recovery,” said Joe Ceci, President of Treasury Board & Minister of Finance, in a release.

“We are growing an economy that is built to last.”

Meanwhile, the province’s deficit also saw a significant decrease of 2.5 billion from the 2017 budget.
