Public Hearing To Be Held In September Over Frontier Project

It looks like the Joint Review Panel looking into the Frontier Oil Sands project is trying to determine a time and place for a public hearing.

This after the panel found Teck Resources Ltd. had provided sufficient information for there to be a hearing on the project – located about 110 km north of Fort McMurray.

Back in March, Indigenous groups like the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation voiced their displeasure about the project – saying it would have detrimental environmental impacts.

ACFN believes Frontier will have devastating effects on wildlife as well as violate their treaty rights.

The project is anticipated to create around 7,000 jobs in construction and another 2,500 in operations – with a daily production rate of 260,000 barrels of bitumen.

Those looking to file a submission at the hearing must make a request by June 22 – with the hearing expected in sometime in September.
