Quicker Move In Date for People Rebuilding with Modular Homes

People rebuilding using modular homes will be able to move in a lot quicker.

These homes will no longer need energy efficiency documentation.

The buildings are built in factories, usually taking around a week to complete. However, due to the uniqueness of the build, this has led to delays for move-in dates as certain inspectors weren’t as familiar.

“Officials basically don’t have to do an inspection on the assembly which is always tough because everything is closed up,” said Myron Ramage, President of the Modular Housing Association Prairie Provinces.

The buildings have a tough time with energy efficiency compliance due to the floors, roofs, and walls usually being built before making the trip to its new property.

Ramage notes the homes are inspected in the factory, certified by an organization accredited by the Standards Council of Canada, making the on-site evaluations “redundant and unnecessary.”

Meanwhile, he doesn’t know the exact number of homes in the community but the number has increased due to the rise in construction jobs.
