Sheriff Collin Dipasquale with the Alberta Integrated Traffic Unit says increased enforcement is aimed at improving the safety of motorists.
"We're definitely looking for impaired driving, we're out here focused on speeders and aggressive driving behaviours, we're looking for compliance with occupant restraints, seatbelts , trying to remind people that intersection safety is a big factor in collisions in this province and to be a little more cautious around intersections," said Dipasquale.
Dipasquale says the new section was created to more efficiently deliver highway traffic services and improve safety.
