Redford issues apology to Smith

A Tory volunteer is resigning her position following an her comments on Twitter.

On Friday, staffer Amanda Wilkie questioned Wildrose leader Danielle Smith as to why she didn't have a family of her own, in response to the party's campaign promise for the Wildrose Family Pack.

In a statement on Saturday, Premier Alison Redford referred to Wilkie's comments as inappropriate and hurtful and has since called and apologized to Smith, who accepted the Premier's apology.

In the past Smith and her husband have visited a fertility clinic to try and have children, but were unsuccessful.

Smith is however the mother of a step-son.
