Restrictions To Be Lifted On Fort Chipewyan Winter Road

As of tomorrow, daytime load limits for the Fort Chipewyan Winter Road will return to 45,000 kg.

RMWB is reminding motorists that daytime load restrictions are still in effect on the La Loche and Lac La Biche Winter Trails.

Because of the recent fluxuation of weather and temperature, load limits have been reduced during the daytime and RMWB is taking the precaution to maintain the integrity of the roads.

The load limit remains at 5,000 kg from 10AM to 10PM, until further notice.

In the evening, the load limit for La Loche is 27,500 kg, meanwhile the Lac La Biche Winter Trail is unrestricted.

With the rough conditions, motorists are still advised to drive with caution on the La Loche Winter Trail.

Load limits will be monitored over the coming days and updates will be provided as available based on weather conditions.

High clearance 4×4 vehicles are recommended.

Regular services such as road patrol, gas stations or cell phone coverage will not be provided, so always be prepared in case of emergencies.

Updates will be given when the information becomes available.
