Search crews unable to find missing Lac La Biche boater

Lac La Biche RCMP will continue their search for a missing man who was last scene clinging on to his boat on a lake.

Search crews started their search for the 69-year-old on Lac La Biche Lake this morning, after he reportedly fell overboard from a boat Friday night.

Stratton and a 62-year-old man were retrieving a fishing net when a wave hit the small 12-foot boat. Crews found a small amount of debris from the sunken boat about four kilometres away from where Stratton was last scene. They also recovered the boat and the net tangled around it.

An RCMP helicopter conducted an air search of the area, but was unable to find the man.

The search will continue tomorrow with the help of the Northern Alberta Aquatic Rescue Society which will be using sonar technology and divers to look under water.

Mounties are asking anyone with information to call police.
