Stroud To Take Leave of Absence From Council Once Byelection is Called

Wood Buffalo’s council will soon be down one councillor for around a month.

Councillor Jane Stroud tells Fort McMurray News she will be taking a leave of absence from her municipal duties once the byelection for Fort McMurray – Conklin is called.

The municipality says they have no legislation in place which would inhibit her from doing so.

Last week, she was officially named the NDP candidate.

Once the election is called, Stroud plans on speaking with people across the riding to see what priorities and concerns they want to see be addressed.

The campaign period is expected to last for about 28 days.

Stroud says she still hasn’t received an exact date for when the byelection will start.
