Local police laying charges in a series of thefts from local businesses.
Wood Buffalo RCMP say they executed search warrants on Sunday as part of an ongoing investigation of multiple thefts from stores including Staples, Safeway, Canadian Tire and Home Hardware, that occured over the past few months.
As a result, 43 year-old Cameron Alexander McGillivary, and 28 year-old Mahmound Elamki, both of Fort McMurray, were charged with numerous offences including eight counts of theft, and four counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
McGillivary has been remanded in custody and is expected to make his next court appearance on Monday.
While Elamki has been released on conditions, and is due back in court in June.
