Volunteer Advocates Needed For Wood Buffalo Victim Services Unit

Wood Buffalo Victim Services Unit is seeking volunteer advocates for 2018

The unit delivers 24/7 support for victims of crime and trauma with victim services staff and volunteers providing advocacy and referral services from the time of the crisis all the way through and after the court process.

"Volunteer advocates are an integral part of the Victim Services team," said Nicole Chouinard, Program Manager. "Providing 24-hour service is critical to meet the needs of the region."

According to the RMWB’s website, advocates explain what options are available so that clients can make informed decisions. They also ensure clients are treated fairly according to their rights under the Alberta Victims of Crime Act.

Volunteers are expected to commit three 12-hour shifts each month and attend monthly meetings.
