Wildrose releases its own version of 2012 budget

It's an Alison in Wonderland fiscal plan.

That according to Alberta Wildrose Leader Danielle Smith, responding to the Redford-government's 2012 budget, which Smith says includes revenue projections that are nothing short of fiction, and given the volatile economy, are incredibly irresponsible.

Smith tells Fort McMurray News the total projected shortfall for this year is over $3 billion.

"This is not a revenue problem because we are bringing in $11 billion worth of resources revenue. This is a spending problem. It's a government that doesn't know how to prioritize, it doesn't know how to get its spending under control," said Smith.

Today the Wildrose released its own version of the 2012 budget, calling for one-year extension of the capital plan, a one-year across the board public sector wage freeze and a 2.5% overall spending increase.

The party says its finance strategy would result in a $16 million surplus.

Infrastructure investments of $4.1 billion would include twinning of Highway 63.
