Wood Buffalo-Cold Lake Adds 600 Jobs Month Over Month

More jobs are being created in the Wood Buffalo-Cold lake area.

According to Statistics Canada, there were 600 new positions made in April – the majority being full-time.

The forestry, fishing, mining, quarrying, oil and gas sector added roughly 200 jobs while around 100 additional people are now working in construction as the rebuild progress continues to progress into the summer.

Business and support services gained the most positions at 600.

The unemployment rate crept back up to 6 per cent after reaching a three-year low in March.

Nationally, the unemployment rate sits at 5.8 per cent.

Provincially, around 57,000 full-time jobs were created year over year.
