Wood Buffalo could be provided with a cabinet post in Tory cabinet

A high-profile victory over long time MLA Guy Boutilier, will likely win Mike Allen a seat in cabinet.

According to Mount Royal University Political Science Professor, Duanne Bratt defeating the Tory-turned Wildrose candidate, will earn Allen favour within the Tory caucus.

Bratt says Premier Alison Redford is looking to revamp her team.

"I don't see this as a cabinet shuffle, usually after an election, I would start from a blank piece of paper as opposed to a shuffle where you're trying to fill in holes from vacating MLAs or people that were defeated, I really think Redford wants to start from scratch and build her own cabinet, given that there's so many newcomers to her caucus," said Bratt.

Bratt says given Wood Buffalo's status as an economic powerhouse and growing population in both ridings, the region will finally be represented by a Minister.
