On July 1, the day will start with the highly anticipated Canada Day Parade at 10:00 a.m. The parade will take a different route in 2010, starting at Morrison Street and travelling down Franklin Avenue to Riedel Street.
Following the parade there will be a Family Fun Day at MacDonald Island featuring games, activities, and more entertainment. Family Fun Day starts at 11:00 a.m. with the Opening Ceremonies, featuring speeches from local dignitaries, at noon.
Residents are reminded that there is no parking at MacDonald Island for any of this year’s Canada Day festivities. The Municipality is offering free transit from 5:00 p.m., June 30 to 1:00 a.m., July 1 and again between 9:00 a.m., July 1 and 1:00 a.m., July 2. Diversified is also offering free shuttle service following the free concert and fireworks on June 30 from 11:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Buses will be safely dropping off residents at various locations throughout the community.
