Here I thought everyone had disappeared! Glad I checked in to read the news. I though of you when I was at the local science fair this year. There was a young lady who did a project on this where she collected some of this snow, melted it and poured it on grass that she grew. She only did it once but that grass never recovered fully when compared to her control sample (watered with clean melted snow) even though she she used clean water on both afterwards.
Something to keep in mind if the municipality just throws sod down to repair the damage. Unless you have nice sandy soil that drains well, you will have that salts around for a while and you are probably stuck with the metals, oils and grease from vehicles. Then again, what am I thinking? I know they will deny any liability and just ignore you unless you get a lawyer to serve them notice.
