Why is it so hard to get information in Fort McMurray?

Thee police had a home close to my house cordoned off with police tape most of the day today with as many as 8 police cars earlier in the day yet no one seems to want to speak of what happened. Residential neighbourhood + crime scene tape = BAD SCENE. I have smaller children and was told by officers to immediately report ANY suspicious activity or sounds! What gives? Why can't I find out what my neighborhood is being exposed to and although I was told there was no imminent threat why not give me some idea of what I am supposed to be looking out for???
If you want the best seat in the house...move the dog!

Typical small town mentality of officials to not release any bad news that will play into the stereotype of FMM combined with a lack of any real investigate media in town who simply read press releases. Common in all small towns.
